It is derived from the long-term reaction of ethanol and cinnamic aldehyde in anhydrous ether. Isolated from Suhe Balsam. It is derived from the esterification of cinnamic acid and cinnamic alcohol.
GB 2760-96 stipulates the allowable food flavors. Mainly used as a fixative for various fruit flavors.
