Preparation 19: 2H-1 , 2, 3-Triazol-2-ylacetic acid. A solution of lithium hydroxide monohydrate (2.5 g, 60 mmol) in water (15 ml) was added to a solution of the product of preparation 17 (7.8 g, 50 ml) and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 hours. It was then acidified with 2M hydrochloric acid (150 ml) and extracted with dichloromethane (150 ml x 3). The combined organic solutions were dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated in vacuo to afford the title compound as a white solid in 81percent yield, 5.2 g.
