Excerpt from ERG Guide 149 [Substances (Self-Reactive)]: Self-decomposition, self-polymerization, or self-ignition may be triggered by heat, chemical reaction, friction or impact. May be ignited by heat, sparks or flames. Some may decompose explosively when heated or involved in a fire. Those substances designated with a (P) may polymerize explosively when heated or involved in a fire. May burn violently. Decomposition or polymerization may be self-accelerating and produce large amounts of gases. Vapors or dust may form explosive mixtures with air. (ERG, 2016)

Excerpt from ERG Guide 149 [Substances (Self-Reactive)]: SMALL FIRE: Dry chemical, CO2, water spray or regular foam. LARGE FIRE: Flood fire area with water from a distance. Move containers from fire area if you can do it without risk. FIRE INVOLVING TANKS OR CAR/TRAILER LOADS: BEWARE OF POSSIBLE CONTAINER EXPLOSION. Fight fire from maximum distance or use unmanned hose holders or monitor nozzles. Cool containers with flooding quantities of water until well after fire is out. Withdraw immediately in case of rising sound from venting safety devices or discoloration of tank. ALWAYS stay away from tanks engulfed in fire. (ERG, 2016)
Excerpt from ERG Guide 149 [Substances (Self-Reactive)]: As an immediate precautionary measure, isolate spill or leak area in all directions for at least 50 meters (150 feet) for liquids and at least 25 meters (75 feet) for solids. LARGE SPILL: Consider initial evacuation for at least 250 meters (800 feet) in all directions. FIRE: If tank, rail car or tank truck is involved in a fire, ISOLATE for 800 meters (1/2 mile) in all directions; also, consider initial evacuation for 800 meters (1/2 mile) in all directions. (ERG, 2016)
Excerpt from ERG Guide 149 [Substances (Self-Reactive)]: ELIMINATE all ignition sources (no smoking, flares, sparks or flames in immediate area). Do not touch or walk through spilled material. Stop leak if you can do it without risk. SMALL SPILL: Pick up with inert, damp, non-combustible material using clean, non-sparking tools and place into loosely covered plastic containers for later disposal. Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas. (ERG, 2016)
Excerpt from ERG Guide 149 [Substances (Self-Reactive)]: Wear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Wear chemical protective clothing that is specifically recommended by the manufacturer. It may provide little or no thermal protection. Structural firefighters' protective clothing will only provide limited protection. (ERG, 2016)

Drug Information
Excerpt from ERG Guide 149 [Substances (Self-Reactive)]: Inhalation or contact with vapors, substance or decomposition products may cause severe injury or death. May produce irritating, toxic and/or corrosive gases. Runoff from fire control may cause pollution. (ERG, 2016)
Excerpt from ERG Guide 149 [Substances (Self-Reactive)]: Ensure that medical personnel are aware of the material(s) involved and take precautions to protect themselves. Move victim to fresh air. Call 911 or emergency medical service. Give artificial respiration if victim is not breathing. Administer oxygen if breathing is difficult. Remove and isolate contaminated clothing and shoes. In case of contact with substance, immediately flush skin or eyes with running water for at least 20 minutes. Keep victim calm and warm. (ERG, 2016)

Dinitrosopentamethylenetetramine Use and Manufacturing
ADDITION OF ACID (EG, HYDROCHLORIC) TO A COLD, MIXED SOLUTION OF HEXAMETHYLENETETRAMINE AND SODIUM NITRITE
This product is one of the widely used foaming agents, mainly used in the manufacture of sponge rubber, and mostly used in polyvinyl chloride in plastics. This product decomposes into nitrogen gas and causes pores. It has a large amount of gas and a high efficiency of non-foaming. Using salicylic acid, adipic acid, phthalic acid and other organic acids or urea as a foaming aid can reduce the decomposition temperature and adjust it within the range of 90-130℃. This product has a large calorific value when decomposed, so it is easy to carbonize the center of the thick product, and the decomposition products have a foul odor. Use with urea to eliminate odor. Can be used as polyvinyl chloride and its copolymer, polyolefin, polystyrene, polyamide, polyester, phenolic resin, polyvinylidene chloride, polysiloxane, polychloroprene, ethylene and propylene copolymer, Foaming agent for polyethylene oxide and its elastomers. It is a widely used foaming agent in the field of rubber foaming. It has the advantages of high foaming efficiency, no discoloration, and no pollution. It can be used as a foaming agent for adhesives or sealants. It is also a commonly used organic microcellular foaming agent for manufacturing sponge rubber and foam plastic. It is easy to disperse in the rubber compound and has no pollution, but the decomposition temperature is high and the decomposition products have odor. Using salicylic acid, adipic acid, phthalic acid, etc. as a foaming aid, the decomposition temperature can be adjusted to 90-130°C. Use urea to eliminate odor. The dosage in polyvinyl chloride is 7%-25%, and the dosage in rubber is 3%-5%. It is used as a foaming agent for plastics such as rubber and PVC to manufacture microporous plastics.
