Description

2-iodohippuric acid is a member of the class of benzamides resulting from the formal condensation of the carboxy group of 2-iodobenzoic acid with the amino group of glycine. It is a N-acylglycine, an organoiodine compound and a member of benzamides. It is a conjugate acid of a 2-iodohippurate.|Iodohippuric acid is under investigation in clinical trial NCT02599844 (Impact of Pediatric Acute Renal Injury in Severe Sepsis in Young Adults).|An iodine-containing compound used in pyelography as a radiopaque medium. If labeled with radioiodine, it can be used for studies of renal function.
