Arachidonic acid (Icosanoic acid), a long-chain fatty acid, is present in all mammalian cells, typically esterified to membrane phospholipids, and is one of the most abundant polyunsaturated fatty acids present in human tissue[1][2].

Used as an organic thin film in the production of liquid crystals for a wide variety of technical applications. It has a role as a plant metabolite. It is a straight-chain saturated fatty acid and a long-chain fatty acid. It is a conjugate acid of an icosanoate.|Arachidic Acid is a saturated long-chain fatty acid with a 20-carbon backbone. Arachidic acid is found naturally as a minor component of peanut oil.
