Santalyl acetate Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

Derived from the esterification of sandalwood and acetic anhydride (a mixture of α- and β-isomers).

Uses

It is used in formulas of freesia, oriental, sandalwood, rose, woody, and heavy-duty perfumes to set off the top notes of sandalwood and increase concentration. It has an excellent fragrance setting effect in the lilac, lily and soft floral formulas. It is also used in trace amounts in food flavors such as apricots, peaches, raw pears, and pineapples.
