Neodymium fluoride (NdF3) Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

Dissolve neodymium oxide in hydrochloric acid and dilute to 100-150 g/L (calculated as Nd2O3). The solution is heated to 70-80°C and then precipitated with 48% hydrofluoric acid. The precipitate is washed, filtered, dried, crushed, and vacuum dehydrated to produce neodymium fluoride.

Uses

Used extensively in the preparation and study of fluorinated glasses.1,2,3,4,5
