8-Hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonic acid Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

Derived from sulfonation of 8-hydroxyquinoline. The fuming sulfuric acid is cooled to below 10°C under stirring, and 8-hydroxyquinoline is gradually added to keep the temperature below 15°C. After the addition, the temperature was raised, and the reaction was stirred at below 30°C for 5h. Let stand overnight. The next day, the reaction solution was put into 8-10 times the amount of water (calculated as 8-hydroxyquinoline), the temperature was controlled at 60°C, crystals were precipitated, and then left overnight. Filter, wash, and dry at 100°C to obtain 8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonic acid. The yield was 87%.
