Description
Bismuth oxide is an inorganic compound, odorless, stable in the air, with a molecular formula of Bi2O3. The pure products are α-type, β-type and δ-type. α-type is a yellow monoclinic crystal with a relative density of 8.9 and a melting point of 825 ℃. It is soluble in acid but insoluble in water and alkali; β-type is a bright yellow to orange tetragonal crystal with a relative density of 8.55 and a melting point of 860 ℃. It is soluble in acid but insoluble in water. It is easily reduced to metallic bismuth by hydrogen, hydrocarbons, etc.

Bismuth oxide (Bi2O3) Use and Manufacturing
To the bismuth nitrate solution (80-90°C), a sodium hydroxide aqueous solution containing no carbon dioxide was added dropwise and mixed. The solution remains alkaline during precipitation, forming a white, volume-expanding bismuth oxide hydrate Bi(OH)3 precipitate. This solution is heated and dehydrated into yellow bismuth trioxide after short stirring. After decantation and washing with water, filtration and drying, the finished bismuth oxide is prepared.
Bismuth oxide can be used to prepare bismuth salts, and can also be used as electronic ceramic powder materials, electrolyte materials, optoelectronic materials, and high-temperature superconducting materials. As an important additive in electronic ceramic powder materials, the purity of Bismuth oxide is generally required to be above 99.15%. Its main applications include zinc oxide varistors, ceramic capacitors, and ferrite magnetic materials.
