Drug Function and Efficacy
It stimulates chondrocytes to synthesize physiological polyglucosamine and proteoglycans, and stimulates synovial cells to synthesize hyaluronic acid; inhibits the activity of enzymes that damage cartilage (such as collagenase and phospholipase A2); prevents the generation of superoxide free radicals that damage tissues; inhibits lysosomal activity; exhibits a mild anti-inflammatory effect, but does not inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandins.
