Methods of Manufacturing

Distilled water and formaldehyde solution were added to the reaction pot, cooled to below 15 ℃, sodium bisulfite was added in batches under stirring, the temperature was controlled at 60-65 ℃ for 20 minutes, and the pH was controlled with sodium hydroxide solution to about 9. After the reaction is completed, hydrochloric acid is added to bring the pH to about 3. Activated charcoal was added for decolorization and filtration. After the filtrate was cooled, ethanol was added to precipitate a solid, which was left to stand, filtered the next day, washed with ethanol, and dried to obtain a finished product.

Uses

Formaldehyde Sodium Bisulfite is used in the preparation of oil-soluble sulfonate additives used in improving anticorrosive, dispersant and antioxygenic properties of lubricant oils. Also used in chemical reactions in the preparation of chiral salen Mn(III) catalysts or lignosulfonates as dispersant for gypsum paste.
