The world's first uniform international safety standard for plastics and rubber

ECHEMI 2020-05-06

The first international safety standard for plastic and rubber machinery, the injection molding machine ISO 20430, was officially released in April this year, providing a globally uniform standard for machine manufacturers. ISO consists of 121 member countries.

About 40 experts from machine manufacturers, associations and health and safety organizations in 13 countries participated in the project. The convener and secretariat of the project are located in Germany and are taken over by the staff of the German Plastics and Rubber Machinery Association (VDMA). The ISO 20430 international standard for injection molding machines is based on the existing European standard EN201.

The convener Bernd Nótel and the project manager Dr. Harald Weber concluded: "Although the project took more than seven years and was longer than expected, the existing various national and regional standards were combined and formulated in accordance with the current technical level. The new standard is worth the effort. "

It is understood that the EN ISO version of the standard will be released in the next few months. This version creates a connection between the European Machinery Directive and additional ZA clauses.
