Virdis Chemicals Acquires J. Allcock & Sons Rubber Additives Business

ECHEMI 2025-04-21

Virdis Chemicals Ltd has acquired the rubber curatives and additives business from Manchester-based rubber recycler J. Allcock and Sons. The acquisition will not impact any other Allcocks business activities.

The acquisition strengthens Virdis’ rubber chemicals portfolio with the addition of the Intercure® range of fluororubber vulcanizers, as well as carnauba wax and other essential rubber chemicals.

Virdis will leverage its existing rubber network to offer a comprehensive portfolio to rubber compounders. The Intercure® range has a particular focus on fluororubbers (FKMs), while carnauba wax is widely used in the rubber industry. The products will be supplied to both domestic and export markets.

The Additives and Curatives business makes an important contribution to Virdis’ ambitious growth plans in key market sectors such as rubber, plastics and moisture control, where new product launches and partnership announcements are expected by 2025.

Mark Baldwin, Virdis chief executive, said: “This acquisition expands our product range and customer base in strategic markets and provides us with the opportunity to focus on growth in both the UK and global markets. We welcome Allcocks’ customers onto the fold and look forward to supporting them as a valued member of the Virdis family.”
