The first batch of Cambodian longan was successfully exported to China

On November 15, the first batch of 338 tons of longan exported from Cambodia to China successfully cleared customs at the Nansha Port in Guangzhou. This is the first batch of Cambodian longan exported to the Chinese market since Cambodia and China signed the Protocol on Phytosanitary Requirements for the Export of Fresh Longan to China in March this year, and it is also the third Cambodian agricultural product approved to be exported to China after pangasius and corn this year. Longan has also become the third Cambodian fruit to be quarantined and exported to China after bananas and mangoes.

In view of the characteristics of fast customs clearance time and high quality requirements for imported fruits, Guangzhou Customs opened a "green channel" as soon as possible, implemented convenient measures such as "two-step declaration", "two-stage access" and "early declaration", improved regulatory efficiency, ensured the safe and smooth customs clearance of imported longan that meets the requirements of inspection and quarantine, realized the fastest same-day arrival of imported fruits and the same day inspection and release, and helped imported fruits enter the market freshly.

"Before the arrival of this batch of Cambodian imported longan, the customs will contact the importer in advance to grasp the cargo information through the customs enterprise liaison mechanism to ensure that the goods are inspected as soon as they arrive at the port." Liu Tao, deputy head of the Haixin Cold Chain Inspection Section of Nansha Customs under Guangzhou Customs, said.

It is understood that the imported longan is Pailin longan, which is a famous longan variety in Cambodia, and the main production areas are concentrated in Pailin and Battambang provinces in Cambodia, with an annual output of more than 100,000 tons. The Cambodian longan harvest period starts in late October and lasts until May, with peak harvesting from November to December.

"Cambodian longan can be grown all year round, but it can meet the needs of domestic consumers at different peaks, so that consumers can also eat fresh longan during winter and Spring Festival." Thanks to the rich Southeast Asian routes and low shipping costs in Nansha Port Area of Guangzhou, we can import Cambodian longan on a large scale, and the market prospect is very broad. Ai Zhonghua, general manager of Chongqing Jinguoyuan Industrial Co., Ltd., an importer of fresh longan, said that this year's longan season the company plans to import about 11,000 tons of Cambodian longan, and it is expected that the import volume will exceed 20,000 tons next year.

On January 1 this year, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) officially came into effect, and more and more agricultural products from ASEAN countries have taken advantage of RCEP to enter the Chinese market more conveniently and enrich the table of domestic consumers. The Cambodian longan was successfully exported to China, and it is also the first fresh fruit variety to obtain quarantine access after RCEP came into effect.

"While strictly controlling the quality and safety of imported agricultural products, the Customs fully supports the safe and efficient customs clearance of perishable agricultural and food products such as imported fruits from ASEAN countries, and provides 'one-stop' services for the whole chain of customs clearance in customs clearance links such as document review, inspection, laboratory testing, and certificate issuance, so as to fully promote the development of Nansha's imported fruit industry, enrich the diversified choices of domestic consumers, and help deepen economic and trade cooperation between China and ASEAN countries." Deng Yan, deputy head of the Nansha Audit Business Section of Nansha Customs, said.

According to statistics, from January to October this year, Guangzhou Nansha Port imported more than 240,000 tons of fruit from Cambodia and other ASEAN countries, an increase of more than 5 times year-on-year.
