On November 30, Kansai Paint announced that its European subsidiary, Kansai Helios Coatings GmbH (hereinafter referred to as "Helios"), signed a share purchase agreement to acquire all the shares of CWS Lackfabrik GmbH (hereinafter referred to as "CWS Group"), headquartered in Düren, Germany. CWS is a well-known producer of powder coatings, liquid and solid synthetic resins with more than 150 years of history, and the company operates powder coatings and synthetic resins businesses in Europe and the United States.
Upon completion of the acquisition, Kansai Coatings' subsidiary Helios will become the new owner of CWS and its group companies in Germany, the United States, Denmark and Poland. The merger provides a long-term opportunity for Kansai Helios to enhance its market position in the coatings industry, particularly in the powder coatings and synthetic resins segments.
