Benjamin Moore & Co. Awarded PR News CSR Accolade
Benjamin Moore & Co. was recognized in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on a Shoe String category at the PR News 2018 CSR Awards. This recognition acknowledges the company’s efforts with YouthBuild USA as part of its “Moore Pride @ Work” Program. This program provided YouthBuild students the opportunity to learn about Benjamin Moore & Co. distribution centers and manufacturing facilities and the roles reach employee plays, to inspire and encourage students to pursue similar careers in the future.
“Benjamin Moore & Co. is committed to positively impacting its people and communities through partnerships and CSR initiatives,” said Mike Searles, CEO of Benjamin Moore & Co. and chairman of Benjamin Moore & Co. Foundation. “We are honored to be recognized for our partnership with YouthBuild USA and are inspired to continue to provide engaging experiences for our employees to give back to their communities.”
In its first year, the program began in one facility and grew to visits at seven sites in six different cities, reaching 50 YouthBuild students. The success of the Moore Pride @ Work Program drew interest from facilities around the country, as well as the related local YouthBuild chapters, motivating the expansion of the nationwide program. By developing and executing a standardized event, Benjamin Moore & Co. allows regional teams at each of its local sites to seamlessly roll out this program. As a result, manufacturing plants and distribution centers not originally on the schedule for 2017 proactively reached out to have their locations added to the program this year.
The PR News CSR Awards honor top corporate social responsibility campaigns and the brands and communicators behind them. Applicants were judged on strategy, research and execution in categories including Community Affairs, CSR on a Shoestring, Diversity Communications, Social Media Campaign and more. The winners were announced March 20 at the CSR & Nonprofit Awards Luncheon, held at the historic National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
