BASF's new series of water-based color paints to power the automotive industry
As a pioneer in water-based coating solutions for the automotive industry, BASF's coatings business unit has launched a new and advanced series of refinish paints. This product series can significantly reduce the impact on the environment while improving efficiency, meeting the expectations of modern car repair stations to the greatest extent. This water-based paint product focuses on sustainable development during the development process. It adopts innovative formulas to optimize process performance, realizes rapid and efficient application, facilitates technicians to improve spraying efficiency, and also meets the environmental benefits of refinishing paint. In addition to helping repair stations to shorten the operation time to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, the new product series has a volatile organic compound (VOC) content of less than 250 g/l, making it one of the most environmentally friendly automotive refinish products.

The new water-based paint product series is the result of the research and development of BASF's cross-functional expert team. Successful R&D is inseparable from the customer-centric concept and constant feedback from customers. Fabien Boschetti, Global Marketing Director of BASF's Automotive Refinish Coating Business Unit, added: “All our business activities are customer-centric, and we are committed to developing the best solutions based on customer feedback. We and customers jointly test the performance of products in practical applications. Performance confirms that the spray system can reproduce millions of colors currently on the market in any climate. Compared with the existing color paint series on the market, this new product has a faster construction speed and a shorter flash-out time. Customers are expected to save up to 35% of costs during the entire operation. In addition, the reduction in material consumption will save an additional 20% in costs."
In addition to the paint product itself, BASF's new water-based paint series also includes a complete set of solutions to meet the needs of the future development of repair stations-a paint mixing rack tailored for the new water-based paint; a web-based KPI auxiliary report tool , Which can provide maintenance station managers with information on economic and environmental benefits, helping them to clearly understand business operations in real time. In addition, a set of TÜV (Technischer überwachüngs-Verein, German Technical Supervision Association) certification audit procedures have also been established to facilitate customers, insurance companies, fleets, car manufacturers and other stakeholders to further understand the service quality and availability of repair stations. Continuous performance standards.
The new paint product series and all the additional services it covers will be launched in the third quarter of 2020 under BASF's high-end refinish brands Glasurit® Parrot® and RM® in designated countries around the world. The latest launch is the water-based paint Parrot® One hundred series.
