Shanxi Newly Added 1,000kt/a Methanol Project

On May 22, 2018, Shanxi Coking Coal Group Feihong Chemical Co., Ltd. held 110kv scheme review meeting on its 1,000kt/a coke oven gas-based methanol comprehensive transformation project.
Combined with the approved 600kt/a olefin project, Feihong Chemical plans to invest 6.89 billion RMB into this coke oven gas-based methanol project, which will be built on the north side of the existing coking plant of Shanxi Coking Coal Group. This project will use the coke oven gas produced by the Group as the major feedstock and add certain proportion of coal gas. It will newly build 1,000kt/a methanol units and supply synthesis feed gas to the existing 300kt/a methanol unit. The project’s byproducts include LNG, sulfur, sulfuric acid, etc. This project will realize the comprehensive utilization of the coke oven gas and the co-production of multiple products.
