Chanel chose aluminum decoration for the new bottle of perfume

ECHEMI 2023-06-06

Chanel continues to launch a more environmentally friendly product line. From now on, the brand's Chance eau de toilette series will now use anodized aluminum bars instead of galvanized polished brass bars used so far. To address the challenge of this material change, this luxury perfume brand has invited the expertise of French manufacturer G. P AVAUDRAN, which specializes in developing aluminum components for the perfume, cosmetics, and spirits markets.

Chanel has set a strong brand development goal for all of its product lines, which is to choose to reduce its impact on the environment. Therefore, for the decoration of the new perfume bottle, the brand chose to replace the galvanized varnish brass strip around the bottle with anodized aluminum oxide. In addition to its light weight, aluminum also has an advantage that it is one of the most recycled metals to date. Changes in materials can also avoid the use of chemicals necessary for galvanizing.

These new metal strips are manufactured by G. P avaudran in southwestern France and assembled by glass manufacturers collaborating with the brand in France and Italy. “This change is clearly not going to be noticed by consumers, but it represents a strong symbolic gesture by Chanel in its environmental transformation, eliminating any exaggeration and being both effective and practical, “ Pi Waldron said in a statement.

“Our expertise allows us to shape aluminum in multiple ways, assemble a range of materials, and meet customers' current requirements. Aluminium, by its very nature, is eco-responsible, can be endlessly recycled, is lightweight and suitable for multiple uses, and forms our response to the desire for added value by luxury brands," said Marc Pivaudran, CEO of g.pivaudran.
