Rulai New Materials (Shandong) Co., Ltd. Accelerates the Construction of its 200,000-ton/year Maleic Anhydride Plant
The construction of Rulai New Materials (Shandong) Co., Ltd.'s 200,000-ton/year maleic anhydride plant and supporting facilities project is progressing rapidly. According to the project manager, Zhu Chuanjun, the project is currently 70% complete and is expected to be operational by the end of the year. Once completed, it will become the largest maleic anhydride plant in China, with an annual sales revenue of 2 billion yuan and tax revenue of 200 million yuan. Additionally, it will create 227 job opportunities.

The 200,000-ton/year maleic anhydride plant project of Rulai New Materials (Shandong) Co., Ltd. utilizes C4 as raw material and produces maleic anhydride, a highly sought-after product in the market, through the catalytic oxidation of n-butane obtained from separation. The total investment for the project is 1.283 billion yuan, with 620 million yuan already invested. The project covers an area of 300 acres and mainly includes the construction of a 200,000-ton/year maleic anhydride plant (including a 250,000-ton/year n-butane separation unit), storage and transportation facilities, and auxiliary production facilities.
This project adopts advanced technology and processes, ensuring stability, high product quality, low energy consumption, high yield, and high energy utilization efficiency. The maleic anhydride produced has broad market prospects and is widely used in the production of unsaturated polyester resins and 1,4-butanediol (BDO), particularly in the BDO and downstream derivative industries. It is currently a popular and well-selling chemical raw material in the domestic market. Furthermore, the project can also supply steam to the entire industrial park, supporting its green development.
Li Duojiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Linyi County Party Committee and Deputy County Mayor, stated that this project is the first one they have implemented in the layout of the spandex industry chain. Over the next four years, Linyi County plans to add at least one key project each year to promote the development of the spandex fiber industry chain. By 2025, they aim to build the first complete spandex industry chain in Dezhou, with maleic anhydride as the leading product and spandex fibers as the final product, creating a well-known "Spandex Industry Valley" in China.
The construction of this project will provide strong support for the spandex industry chain in Shandong, promoting the local economy. Through the introduction and innovation of technology, the project will further enhance the upgrading and transformation of China's spandex industry, improving product quality and market competitiveness. It is believed that the Rulai New Materials (Shandong) Co., Ltd. maleic anhydride plant project will play a significant role in the future, contributing to the sustainable development of the industry.
