July 14- An explosion at a chemical plant in Louisiana reportedly shook nearby homes and sent residents to emergency shelters, local reports said. The cause of the accident, which happened at about 9 p.m., was still being assessed, the staff member said. The explosion at the factory shook nearby houses.
The Dow Chemical Company said in a statement that it was in contact with local officials after a fire at its chemical plant in Louisiana caused no injuries.
Residents within a half-mile radius were offered shelter, local officials said, adding that Dow was conducting air monitoring and had found no abnormalities.
