Red phosphorus (Red phosphorus ), also known as red phosphorus, is purple amorphous powder, glossy and non-toxic. Under high pressure, it begins to melt at 590℃. It reacts with nitric acid to form phosphoric acid and is heated in chlorine gas to form chloride. The yellow phosphorus is gradually transformed into red phosphorus after being heated to 250℃ for several days under atmospheric pressure in vacuum. Red phosphorus is used in the semiconductor industry as a diffusion source, in organic synthesis and in the manufacture of matches, as well as in insecticides, rodenticides, fireworks and smoke bombs.
