2016-11-17

Songwon Industrial's joint-venture, Polysys Additive Technologies Middle East (PAT ME) has started a one-pack systems (OPS) plant in Abu Dhabi.

The OPS will be used in production of polyolefins.

"We are pleased to be providing Polysys Additive Technologies with the platform to facilitate their business growth in the region."

Songwon Industrial CEO Maurizio Butti said: "This region is one of the fastest growing markets for polyolefins and already a major consumer of OPS.

"With this new facility, Songwon is in a stronger position to better meet the needs of current and future customers in the Middle East.

"Now we are able to offer our customers the OPS products they demand, combined with all the advantages and service of a leading global supplier, with 50 years' experience in breakthrough solutions."

The new plant will expand the OPS manufacturing capability of Songwon Industrial, which is the second largest manufacturer of polymer stabilisers in the world.<

The Abu Dhabi plant will use similar technologies to those used at its two other plants, located in Greiz, Germany and Houston, US.

Polysys Additive Technologies general manager Hans Daniels said: "Having a plant here allows us to take full advantage of Kizad's unique location with its port facilities and infrastructure.

"It also establishes a very effective hub for supplying customers across the entire region."

PAT ME is a joint-venture between Polysys Industries, Pan Gulf Holding and Songwon Industrial Group.

Abu Dhabi Ports CEO Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi said: "We are pleased to be providing Polysys Additive Technologies with the platform to facilitate their business growth in the region.

"With excellent market access through Khalifa Port, the fastest growing port in the region, world class infrastructure, integrated clustering and dedicated support services, this new facility will cater to the growing polymer industry.

"By substituting import to region with locally manufactured products, Polysys Additive Technologies joins Abu Dhabi Ports' efforts towards supporting the leadership's vision in diversifying Abu Dhabi's thriving economy."
