d. Neon, or helium, argon can be used in vacuum lightning arresters which will show a purple-hued glow and serve as a warning signal when there is a lightning strike.

Its cooling efficiency surpasses helium by over 40 times per unit volume and is more than triple that of hydrogen. Neon's safety makes it a substitute for hydrogen in cryogenic research and applications like bubble chambers, free radicals, and low-temperature pumps.
