The latest findings from the journal Cell delve into the world of skin discomfort, singling out the V8 serine protease discovered within the bacterial pathogen Staphylococcus aureus as the primary culprit behind skin itchiness.
The study posits that V8 plays a pivotal role in stimulating PAR1, also known as "proteinase-activated receptor 1," instigating spontaneous itching and consequential damage to the skin caused by incessant scratching.
