Indian SML has announced its entry into the Brazilian market with $10 million!
Recently, Indian multinational company SML Limited (formerly Sulphur Mills Limited) has announced its entry into the Brazilian market with plans to invest approximately US $10 million to introduce more sustainable and technologically advanced crop solutions to Brazil. The company is expected to reach $5 million in revenue in the Brazilian region by March 2024.
With a history of more than 50 years and operations in more than 80 countries, SML generates annual revenues of approximately $250 million worldwide through products across all segments of crop nutrition, crop protection and biologics. The multinational's entry into Brazil will be the first step in an ambitious expansion strategy throughout Latin America. SML said the initial focus is on the Brazilian market, where it is starting operations, because it is not only the largest agricultural country, but also the most important agricultural country in Latin America.
SML's focus in Brazil is on intensively irrigated crops and sugarcane, where it is developing a range of nutrients, pesticides and biologics and bringing innovative, patent-protected solutions that will contribute to modern and sustainable agriculture. As the Brazilian business progresses, the company will expand its operations to other South American countries such as Argentina, Chile and Bolivia. SML's growth forecast in Latin America will be a combination of organic and inorganic growth as it pushes ahead with acquisition and hiring plans for the next five years.
In addition, SML is bringing Indian technology to the booming Brazilian agriculture sector, resulting in disruptive premium solutions that work in harmony with nature.
With this milestone of SML's entry into Brazil, Brazilian growers will experience more and more technologically advanced products in the future. At the same time, as one of the world's leading agricultural economies, Brazil offers great potential for SML's growth agenda.
At present, SML has 1,800 employees, more than 250 products, more than 500 patents, and more than six production sites. The company has continued to grow at double-digit rates over the past three decades and is committed to a more aggressive growth strategy through geographic expansion and innovative product introduction. SML says it is eager to become a provider of modern agricultural technologies and sustainable solutions together with key players in the Brazilian market, including but not limited to distributors, cooperatives, consultants and especially farmers.
