The utilization rate of pesticides exceeded 41%, and the green development of agriculture made positive progress

2023-12-26

Since 2023, agricultural and rural departments at all levels have conscientiously implemented the decision-making and deployment of the Party Central Committee and The State Council, consciously practiced the concept of green development, innovated work ideas, and strengthened work measures, and achieved positive results in the green development of agriculture.

The ability to conserve agricultural resources has steadily increased

We carried out the national black land protection project, introduced the system of arable land rotation and fallow, and gradually improved the quality of cultivated land. Up to now, the country has built 1 billion mu of high-standard farmland, and the average grade of cultivated land has reached 4.76. The area under water-saving irrigation in agriculture reached 591 million mu, and the effective utilization coefficient of farmland irrigation water reached 0.572. A protection system for crop germplasm resources has been established, and 539,000 germplasm resources have been preserved for a long time. It has built 227 national breeding farms (districts and repositories) for livestock and poultry genetic resources, and achieved full coverage of live protection for 159 national-level varieties. More than 30 billion aquatic species are released every year.

The environment of agricultural producing areas has been significantly improved

The area covered by the green prevention and control of diseases and pests in major crops reached 54.1 percent. The area covered by the control and control of paddy, wheat, and corn reached 45.2 percent, and the utilization rate of fertilizers and pesticides exceeded 41 percent. A county-wide project was carried out to promote the resource utilization of livestock and poultry waste, and the comprehensive utilization rate of livestock and poultry waste reached 78.3%. In the key counties of comprehensive utilization of straw under the integrated construction system, the comprehensive utilization rate of straw reached more than 88%. The recycling and disposal rate of agricultural film was stable at more than 80%. Newly approved the creation of 80 national pilot zones for green agricultural development, and selected 29 pilot zones to carry out integrated, all-factor and all-chain efforts to promote comprehensive prevention and control of agricultural non-point source pollution.

Restoration of agricultural ecosystems was accelerated

The 10-year fishing ban on the Yangtze River was implemented, and 193 species of fish were monitored in key waters of the Yangtze River basin, an increase of 25 species over 2018. The biological integrity index of the main stream of the Yangtze River and Poyang Lake and Dongting Lake were all two levels higher than before the ban, and the aquatic biodiversity was improved. We will strengthen agricultural water saving and water control in the Yellow River Basin and promote water-based seed application. We will carry out trials for the comprehensive utilization of reserve cultivated land resources such as saline-alkali land, and select 20 counties in 15 provinces with large areas of acidified cultivated land to control acidified cultivated land. Classified management of cultivated land soil environmental quality has been implemented, and the safe utilization rate of polluted farmland has remained above 90 percent

The development of a green agricultural industrial chain was accelerated

More than 73,000 green and organic agricultural products have been identified, and the passing rate of routine monitoring of the quality and safety of agricultural products has remained above 97.4% in the past five years. We coordinated the primary processing, deep processing and comprehensive utilization of agricultural products, and steadily improved the comprehensive utilization of agricultural products and processing by-products. The rate of grain processing loss was 3.7 percent, about 1 percentage point lower than in 2015, and the average annual grain loss was more than 10 billion jin. We will carry out high-quality projects in leisure agriculture, and expand and enrich new business forms such as farming experience, sightseeing and picking, characteristic rural accommodation, and research and popularization of science. At present, 120 key counties of national leisure agriculture have been built, and a number of high-quality rural leisure tourism routes have been promoted.
