ExxonMobil will suspend UK ethane cracking plant
According to foreign media reports, ExxonMobil said that the Fife ethylene plant with an annual output of 830,000 tons in Mossmorran, UK, will enter a "main phase" in the next few weeks. Therefore, It must be temporarily closed at the beginning of April.
The plant is currently undergoing a project costing 140 million pounds (192 million US dollars) to modernize critical infrastructure and introduce new technologies to improve operational reliability and performance. It is understood that the Fife ethylene plant cracking ethane is located next to Shell's Fife natural gas and liquids facility, and it processes North Sea incoming materials before supplying raw materials to the cracking furnace. These two facilities are connected by pipeline to the Braefoot Bay marine terminal, where the products are shipped for export.
