The overall pass rate of agricultural products in China is 97.8%

Since 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has steadily promoted the quality and safety supervision of agricultural products, and firmly held the bottom line of quality and safety in order to comprehensively promote rural revitalization and accelerate the modernization of agriculture and rural areas. The overall pass rate of agricultural product monitoring throughout the year was 97.8 percent.

The problem of pesticide residues in cowpea has achieved remarkable results. We urged 20 cowpea main producing provinces to implement green prevention and control, rapid sampling, supervision and law enforcement and other key elements, and promoted the pass rate to reach a new historical high of 95.4%. Coordinated and promoted the three-year campaign of "Controlling prohibited pesticide, controlling pesticide residues, and Promoting improvement", cracked down on the illegal use of banned pesticide, strictly controlled the excessive residues of conventional pesticide, and the qualification rate of relevant varieties was significantly improved compared with that before the rectification.

The new agricultural security law system and measures have been effectively implemented. Small farmers included in the new Agricultural security Law (the newly revised "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Quality and Safety of Agricultural Products") are included in the scope of supervision, increasing the use of prohibited pesticide’s  "detention" penalties, a single list of penalties for exceeding conventional pesticide residues, and the implementation of four major new systems such as the commitment to reach standards certificate system. All small farmers will be included in the grid supervision, and daily inspections will be carried out every week to test and enforce the law on their agricultural products. All provinces have included excessive standards of conventional pesticides in the scope of supervision and law enforcement, and 338 cases have been investigated and handled. The new system of certification effectively landed, agricultural production enterprises, agricultural cooperatives can be issued according to the requirements of each batch, law enforcement officials dare to punish the behavior of non-issuance, as of now, the country has investigated and handled 525 cases of promised certification.

The supply of green and high-quality agricultural products has been further improved. Throughout the year, 327 maximum residue limits for 75 kinds of pesticides in food were formulated, and 170 agricultural industry standards were released. Steady progress was made in the four actions of "three products and one standard" for agricultural products, and the first batch of 178 national standardization demonstration bases for the whole industrial chain of modern agriculture was announced. Organize the screening of characteristic quality indicators, improve the quality index database, and speed up the establishment of superior quality and superior price mechanism. In the first three quarters of 2023, 13,175 green and organic agricultural products were newly developed, 744 were newly registered as high-quality new agricultural products, and about 174 million mu of standardized production bases for green food raw materials were built.
