With a total deal value of $2 billion, J&J's acquisition of Ambrx showcases the growing interest of major multinational corporations in ADC research and development. Ambrx's unique expertise in site-specific conjugation of non-natural amino acids for ADCs, as well as its advancements in immune-stimulatory ADCs, bispecific antibodies, and PEGylated recombinant proteins, positions J&J for further innovation and expansion in the ADC space.


3. Yilian Bio and Roche: Pioneering Global Collaboration
Yilian Bio, a Chinese biotech firm, made waves at the beginning of 2024 by entering a global partnership and license agreement with Roche. The collaboration aims to develop Yilian Bio's next-generation antibody-drug conjugate candidate, YL211, targeting the c-MET receptor for the treatment of solid tumors. Roche gains exclusive rights for the global development, manufacturing, and commercialization of YL211. The agreement entails an initial payment and near-term milestone payments of $50 million to Yilian Bio, as well as potential future payments totaling nearly $1 billion for development, registration, commercialization milestones, and royalty payments based on global annual net sales.
