Zeon invests in battery technology company Coreshell
Zeon Corporation, through its venture capital arm Zeon Ventures, has invested in Coreshell Technologies, a U.S.-based startup delivering the world's most affordable, highest-performing batteries to the electric vehicle industry by unlocking their true capacity. With this investment, Zeon will work with Coreshell to commercialize its products.
The nano-layer coating material developed by Coreshell is applied to the positive and negative electrode surfaces that are in contact with the electrolyte. This increases the capacity and heat resistance of lithium-ion batteries, thereby improving safety. The coating material is also expected to reduce costs because its application process can be incorporated into current manufacturing processes without major modifications.
Zeon’s accumulated electrode adhesive technology will be combined with Coreshell’s technology to create synergy and create new value. Zeon will use its lithium-ion battery evaluation and analysis technology to propose electrode designs suitable for Coreshell coating materials and improvements to improve battery functionality.
Zeon is committed to contributing to a sustainable society by investing in and nurturing startups in four key areas: healthcare and life sciences, CASE and MaaS, telecommunications (5G/6G) and energy conservation, thus providing indispensable products and services, and ultimately achieving a sustainable planet and a safe and comfortable life for mankind.
