Canada Proposes Updates to Maximum Residue Limits for Broflanilide and Metsulfuron-methyl in Select Foods
Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) recently issued notices PMRL2024-08 and PMRL2024-09, suggesting changes to the maximum residue limits (MRLs) for the pesticides broflanilide and metsulfuron-methyl in various types of food.
The key proposed MRL updates are as follows:

The public can give their thoughts on these proposals from May 30, 2024 to August 13, 2024.
After taking feedback into account, the PMRA will finalize the updated MRLs. These changes are aimed at aligning Canada's pesticide regulations with the latest scientific advancements and global standards, ensuring that food is safe for consumption while also supporting sustainable farming practices. Food producers, importers, and other stakeholders are encouraged to review the proposed changes and share their thoughts during the consultation period.
