Japan Lifts Monitoring of Residues of Prothioconazole in Chinese-Produced Red Peppers

June 5th, 2024 - The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) has announced the removal of the prothioconazole residue monitoring requirements for red peppers produced in China. This decision was made based on the actual inspection results obtained so far.

The MHLW issued Notice No. 1 of Health, Food and Cosmetics Policy on June 4th, 2024, stating that the relevant sections regarding prothioconazole in Chinese-produced red peppers have been deleted from Annex 2 of the monitoring inspection.

This change comes as a positive development, signaling that the prothioconazole residue levels in Chinese red peppers have been consistently within acceptable limits, allowing Japan to lift the enhanced monitoring procedures.
