EU Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) Communication (Week 23, 2024)
According to the information published on the official website of the European Union, in the 23rd week of RASFF alerts in 2024, three alerts involving Chinese food and related products were issued. Here are the details:
- On June 4, 2024, the Netherlands reported a batch of compound fish oil soft capsules, which were of concern due to the fact that they had not been inspected by a veterinarian. Currently, the product has been distributed to other EU member states and has been detained by relevant operators for further investigation and processing.
- On June 4, 2024, Poland also reported a batch of rice, as it lacked the necessary health certificate and analytical report. To ensure food safety, the batch of rice has not been put on the market and has been returned by the shipper.
- On June 5, 2024, Germany reported a batch of dried seaweed, with the alert being issued due to the fact that the iodine content in the product was found to be excessively high, reaching 158 ± 56.7 mg/kg, while the maximum limit was only 20 mg/kg. Currently, the distribution information of the product is not clear, and no specific measures have been taken.
