EU's RASFF (Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed) notifications in Week 24 of 2024

According to the information released on the official website of the European Union, in the RASFF (Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed) notifications for Week 24 of 2024, three cases of non-compliant food and related products exported from China were disclosed. The details are as follows:

1. On June 11, 2024, the Netherlands reported that a batch of chili sauce was found to be non-compliant due to Bacillus cereus exceeding the standard (the detected value was 150,000 CFU/g). This batch of chili sauce had been distributed to Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Malta, the Netherlands, Romania, and Sweden. Currently, the Netherlands has taken measures, including notifying the shipper and recipient, and ordering the relevant products to be withdrawn from the market and destroyed.

2. On the same day, Slovenia also reported the non-compliance of a batch of fresh ginger products. The batch of fresh ginger was found to have ethyl parathion residue levels exceeding the maximum residue limit (the detected value was 0.037 mg/kg, which exceeded the limit of 0.01 mg/kg). This batch of fresh ginger had not been distributed to other member states, and Slovenia is actively recalling the batch from consumers.

3. On June 14, 2024, Poland reported the non-compliance of a batch of cooking spatulas. The testing showed that the batch had an issue with primary aromatic amine migration exceeding the standard. The products had been distributed to Latvia and Poland. The relevant authorities in Poland are notifying the relevant authorities and taking appropriate measures to address this issue.
