Briolf Group to invest $30 million in its first US production plant

ECHEMI 2024-06-27

On June 6, 2024, the Communications Office of North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper officially announced the agreement reached between the Briolf Group and the local governments of the State of North Carolina and the City of Monroe, confirming the launch of the project to establish the company's first productive investment in the United States, headquartered in Girona, Spain.

The investment is located in Monroe, about 40 kilometers from Charlotte, and includes the acquisition of a 130,000 square meter plot of land. In the coming years, the plot will be developed into the Briolf Park, which will house production facilities for various business lines of the group.

The project is carried out in multiple phases and initially involves the construction of a plant to locally produce Roberlo products, one of the group's companies with a global reputation in the field of automotive refinishing and industrial coatings. Subsequently, production capacity and resources will be gradually expanded to locally produce products in the aerosol and adhesive sectors.

The company expects the project to take at least two years to come on stream, will create 100 direct jobs and will represent a total investment of more than $30 million.

"This is a historic event for us, both in terms of quality and quantity," said Jaume Juher, President of the Briolf Group. "Having a production center in the United States allows us to directly serve the currently important market in North America. At the same time, it enables us to better respond to the many growth opportunities that the North American market offers us."

"It has been a very long road since we first started commercial activities with the United States in the 1990s," added Juher. "Years of hard work, difficulties and some mistakes have taught us a lot. But as has always been the case in the history of the Briolf Group, the success of many has made the journey worthwhile and we are now facing a unique challenge."

Specializing in the production and sale of coatings and adhesives, the Briolf Group, which owns the companies Roberlo, Montana Colors and Chemfix, has consolidated sales of €245 million by 2023. This is an increase of nearly 30% compared to the previous year. In the past three years, driven by organic growth and an intensive acquisition strategy, the company has doubled its turnover and has acquired leading positions both domestically and in Europe.
