BASF expands sodium methoxide production capacity in South America to 90,000 metric tons per year
On July 3, BASF’s Monomers division announced an increase in sodium methoxide production capacity at its latest customer event in Guaratingueta, São Paulo.
In the second quarter, the company increased the nameplate capacity of its sodium methoxide plant in Guaratingueta, Brazil, to 90,000 metric tons per year.
Dr. Ramkumar Dhruva, President of Monomers, highlighted the strategic value of the expansion: “This capacity increase is another step in the expansion of our sodium methoxide business in South America and demonstrates our commitment to our customers and the South American biodiesel market. Together with our long-term partners, we will continue to create sustainable value for the region.”
“I am delighted to celebrate this important expansion with our customers and look forward to continuing to develop innovative solutions together for the region,” said Alejandro Ludovico Bossio Grassi, Director of BASF’s Monomers South America division. “As more and more organizations in South America focus on sustainability, we see the biodiesel market expanding rapidly. We want to help our customers grow their business while reducing their environmental impact. With this expansion, we ensure a continuous supply of sodium methoxide.”
In addition to the sodium methoxide plant, the site also has 12 other production plants, providing more than 1,500 solutions and products, such as crop protection, adhesive raw materials, resins, coatings, detergents, cosmetics, automotive market solutions, and more.
