EU Approves Ashitaba Stem Juice as a Novel Food for Market Entry
In the continuous efforts to promote healthy food innovation, the European Commission issued an important regulation on July 31, 2024, namely Regulation (EU) 2024/2061, which officially approves the SAP from the stem of Tomorrow leaf plant as a new food product on the European market. This decision is based on the European parliament and council regulation (EC) No 2015/2283, about the new food regulatory framework, designed to ensure that consumers can access to the more safe and healthy food choices.
This EU initiative amends the annex of the original Commission Implementing Regulation (EU)2017/2470 to open the way for market access for the stem SAP of tomorrow leaf plants. The new regulations will take effect at the start of the 20th day after the release, for food manufacturers and suppliers to provide a clear legal guidance, so that they can introduce this unique natural resources its product line.
