Difference Between Grease and Oil | Detailed Explanation
Grease is the collective name of oil and fat. The difference between grease and oil is that oils have a lower melting point than greases, so, in general, grease sometimes can be called fat when they are at normal temperature, and those that are liquid are called oils. Though oils and greases consist of triglycerides, they differ in physical state mainly due to the different compositions of fatty acids. Grease can be transformed into solid fat by freezing, and can be changed into liquid oil by heating, the change of solid fat and liquid oil is reversible, and the solid fat at common temperature is not completely solid, but a mixture of liquid oil and solid fat. Oil
Oil is formed by one or more liquid hydrocarbons at a common temperature. The factors that can be dissolved in oil are lipophilic and generally can dissolve in water, so from the point of view of organic chemistry, the concept of oil is more inclusive than the concept of oil we usually recognize. It differs from grease because the compounds that makeup oil have a relatively small molecular length and connections between molecules.
Oil can be mixed with water relatively evenly in the emulsion, such as milk, for a short period. However, the emulsion is in a sub-stable state and will be divided into oil and water again over time. Oils can be broadly categorized into four groups: bio-oils, essential oils, mineral oils, and silicone oils:
1.Bio-oils: Bio-oils include our common animal oils and vegetable oils. We know that vegetable oils and animal oils are mainly composed of glycerides of fatty acids, so they are also called fatty oils.
lAnimal oil is animal fat, animal oil represented by lard, containing saturated fatty acids and cholesterol. Excessive consumption is easy to cause hypertension, atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, hyperlipidemia, and cerebrovascular accidents, and is not good for the human body. However, animal oil is more flavorful and has the effect of promoting the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, K, and so on. Animal oil contains a variety of fatty acids, including more saturated fatty acids, so it is mostly solid at room temperature and can provide a very high calorie.
lVegetable oil: Vegetable oil is a common fat in our life, obtained from the seeds, fruits, and germs of plants. In vegetable oils, fatty acids contain a variety of unsaturated fatty acids in addition to palmitic acid, stearic acid, and oleic acid. Vegetable oils generally contain more unsaturated fatty acids than animal fats, which is favorable for human absorption, so vegetable oils are generally used in food and cosmetics.
2.Essential oils: Essential oils are scented volatile substances obtained by distillation, extrusion, cold soaking, or extraction of plant flowers, leaves, stems, roots, or fruits. The unique chemical structure of each essential oil determines its fragrance, color, fluidity, and the way it interacts with the system, which is why each essential oil has a specific set of functional qualities.
3.Mineral oils: According to customs, the base oils extracted from petroleum by physical distillation are called mineral oils, and the process is based on the refining of crude oil, after fractionating out the useful light substances, the residual oil at the bottom of the tower is then refined.
4.Silicone oil: Silicone oil is a semi-organic polymer and non-homogeneous polymer compound composed of silicon and oxygen. Their advantage is that they are not easy to oxidize and are not easily affected by temperature and other factors.

Grease
Grease is more commonly referred to as fat, but fat is only one part of the lipid group. Oils, fats, and greases can be all called lipids. However, greases can be mainly found in food. In general, oils and greases present two different states at room temperature: liquid and solid. Liquid lipids are usually called oils while the solid one is called grease. Unlike sugar, grease contains a higher ratio of carbon to hydrogen and a lower amount of oxygen, so grease is higher in calories than sugar. Greases are soluble in most organic solvents, but not in water.
The Benefits of Grease
Grease is a term that scares many people, and choosing skimmed foods seems like saying goodbye to fat permanently, however, grease is good for the human body, and a grease diet can help you lose weight and maintain a slim figure.
Grease is a good intracellular energy storage substance that mainly provides heat, protects internal organs, maintains body temperature, assists in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, participates in all aspects of metabolic activity in the body, and so on, and too little or even stopping the intake of fat may cause harm to your body.
Major Sources of Grease
The main sources of dietary grease in humans are animal adipose tissue, meat, and seeds of plants.
The most common are animal sources. Fats are stored in animals, such as lard, tallow, suet, fish oil, bone marrow, fatty meats, cod liver oil, etc.; in addition, there are some lipids from fats in animal milk, such as cream.
Secondly, there are plant sources. Vegetable sources of grease are mainly extracted from within the fruits of plants, such as sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, peanuts, walnuts, pine seeds, soybeans, and so on.
It is highly recommended to consume more unsaturated fatty acids and less saturated fatty acids because unsaturated fatty acids are chemically more active and more easily digested and utilized by the body, and saturated fatty acids are chemically stable and not easily utilized by the body.
