Vietnamese Agricultural Products Face Lockdown Crisis in Indian Market: Focus Country at 2024 World Food Conference Faces Export Challenges

ECHEMI 2024-09-20

The World Food Congress India 2024, co-hosted by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), will be held from September 19 to 22. The Commercial Section of the Vietnamese Embassy in India will set up a Vietnamese pavilion at the congress.

During the World Food Congress in India 2024, Vietnam was honored to be one of the two focus countries. This year, Vietnam exhibited two booths of 27 square meters and 150 square meters respectively, displaying representative agricultural products and processed foods of more than 20 Vietnamese companies, including fresh fruit, dried fruit, frozen durian, longan, dragon fruit, cashew nuts, coffee, tea, pepper, cinnamon, rice wine, instant noodles, etc.

Vietnam's Commercial Counsellor in India, Phe Choong, said it is of profound significance that Vietnam has been selected as one of the focus countries of the World Food Congress in India 2024. This not only shows the importance India attaches to the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and India, but also the recognition of the efforts made by the Commercial Section of the Vietnamese Embassy in India. At the same time, it also confirms Vietnam's important position in the global food supply chain. It also proves the potential and quality of Vietnamese agricultural products and processed foods and helps to promote the image of Vietnam and its products to the international community.

Counsellor Peh Chung-Hoon expects that by participating in the World Food Congress India 2024, Vietnamese companies will be able to strengthen ties with potential partners and further expand their export markets to India and other countries. At the same time, the Congress will also be an opportunity to promote dialogue and policy cooperation to create more favorable conditions for Vietnamese agricultural products to enter the Indian market.
