Third Quarter Sees Surge in Non-Conforming Food Cases Exported to Japan, Reaching 33
Based on the latest circular issued by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare regarding violations of the Japanese Food Hygiene Law in the third quarter of 2024 (that is, the period from July to September), FoodPartner has conducted a detailed statistical analysis. The results show that in the third quarter of 2024, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare notified a total of 33 cases of unqualified food imported from China to Japan.
Among the 33 cases of unqualified food, the specific classification is as follows: vegetables and their products accounted for 14 cases, aquatic products and their products were 4 cases, grains and their products were 6 cases, beverage products were 3 cases, meat products were 1 case, leisure food was 1 case, fruits and their products were 1 case, food additives were 2 cases, and egg products were 1 case.
Through the analysis of these unqualified food cases, we found that the main reasons for food exported to Japan in violation of Japanese food hygiene law include microbial contamination, residues of agricultural and veterinary drugs and aflatoxin exceeded the standard. The statistics for each cause are as follows:
Among them, there were 5 cases that were notified because of the benchmark failure, there were 5 cases of failure caused by aflatoxins exceeding the standard, 2 cases of failure caused by food additives, 10 cases of failure caused by agricultural and veterinary drug residues, and microbial contamination was the factor that led to the most cases of failure, totaling 11 cases.
These data not only reflect the problems existing in the quality control of China's export food, but also suggest that relevant enterprises and regulatory authorities need to further strengthen the management and supervision of food hygiene and safety to ensure that export food can meet the regulatory requirements of the importing country and protect the health and safety of consumers. At the same time, this also sounded the alarm for China's food export industry, reminding the industry in the pursuit of economic benefits at the same time, should pay more attention to food quality and safety, in order to maintain the good image of China's food export and international market competitiveness.
