Gattefossé strengthens its pharmaceutical and personal care presence in India with new technology center in Mumbai
Gattefossé, a French supplier of natural pharmaceutical excipients and cosmetic ingredients to the global health and beauty industry, is continuing to invest in India, which the group sees as a key market for its expansion.
“India is a global leader in generic drug production and has one of the fastest growing pharmaceutical industries, thanks to its strong scientific base, government support and commitment to science. The beauty and personal care market is also expanding rapidly, thanks to changing consumer preferences and desire for new products, providing opportunities for local and international companies,” Gattefossé explained.
To support this growing market, the group has opened a new office and a state-of-the-art Center of Technical Excellence.
The center brings together pharmaceutical and personal care application laboratories. Gattefossé said the mission of the Center of Technical Excellence is to support local customers and develop innovative applications based on Indian, regional and global needs that will become a valuable resource for the industry.
Eduardo de Purgly, CEO of Gattefossé Group, said: “We recognise that India dominates the global generic and super-generic markets and is a major export hub for global markets including the US and Europe. With a strong science and technology base and a large talent pool, India is well positioned to partner with global companies. India is also emerging as a key player in manufacturing, R&D and clinical trials. In the booming cosmetics market, demand for multifunctional and biodegradable products is rising and Gattefossé is responding with innovative ingredients and lipid solutions with proven benefits. We are committed to empowering brands to meet the evolving needs of consumers, especially in the booming Asia Pacific region.”
The lab program is dedicated to providing customers with troubleshooting advice and ready-to-use guides for using Gattefossé excipients. For pharmaceuticals, the Indian FDA-approved lab focuses on sustained-release formulations, bioavailability enhancement and topical applications. For personal care, the lab develops cosmetics and specific formulations for skincare, haircare, sunscreen and colour cosmetics to meet local needs and trends.
Gattefossé India’s new facility is sustainably designed and has received IGBC (Indian Green Building Council) Platinum certification for energy efficiency, resource conservation and waste management. In addition, the site has received WELL certification for its focus on improving the health and well-being of occupants, featuring improvements in air quality, lighting and overall indoor environmental quality.
