Eli Lilly Makes Bold $1 Billion Move to Combat Opioid Crisis with SiteOne Acquisition
On May 28, 2025, Eli Lilly announced its acquisition of SiteOne Therapeutics, a privately held biopharmaceutical company, in a deal valued at up to $1 billion. This strategic move grants Eli Lilly access to STC-004, SiteOne’s experimental non-opioid pain treatment targeting Nav1.8 channels involved in pain signal transmission.
The acquisition aligns with Eli Lilly’s broader strategy to diversify its pain management portfolio beyond traditional opioids. STC-004 represents a novel approach, aiming to provide effective pain relief without the addiction risks associated with opioid therapies.
