Moldova Proposes New Health Claims for Food Products Feedback Deadline July 9
On June 26, 2025, Moldova’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry announced proposed amendments to the list of permitted health claims for food products. The public consultation period ends on July 9, 2025.
Key proposed additions include:
- Chicory Inulin: Foods containing at least 12g of chicory inulin per day may claim to support normal bowel function by increasing bowel movement frequency.
- Carbohydrate Solutions: Solutions providing 30-90g of carbohydrates per hour (from glucose, sucrose, fructose, or maltodextrin) may claim to enhance physical performance during high-intensity, prolonged exercisefor trained adults. Conditions:EPA and DHA (Omega-3 Fatty Acids): Foods containing EPA and DHA sources may claim to support normal heart function, provided the label informs consumers that 250mg of EPA and DHA per day is required to achieve the benefit.
- Fructose should not exceed one-third of total carbohydrates.
- Glucose intake must remain below 60g per hour.
