Univar Solutions and BASF Expand Distribution Agreement
Univar Solutions and its Canadian subsidiary, Univar Solutions Canada Ltd. (Univar Solutions' Ingredients + Specialties division), have been appointed the exclusive distributor of select BASF specialty ingredients for industrial applications in the United States and Canada.
The expanded collaboration between the two companies aims to provide significant advantages to customers by offering a broad portfolio of key ingredients: Capromer, 1,6-hexanediol (HDO) melts and flakes, and ε-caprolactone. These ingredients are used in a wide range of industrial and manufacturing applications, including polymers, plastics, coatings, and adhesives.
“We are excited to deepen our already strong partnership with BASF in North America,” said Matthew Oliver, Global Vice President, Performance Materials, Univar Solutions. “By collaborating, we will continue to pave the path for mutual growth and innovation, leveraging our combined strengths to explore new possibilities, address complex challenges, and deliver exceptional value to our customers. This expanded partnership will provide a broad product and service offering, enhance our supply security, and help us better meet the individual needs of our mutual customers. These specialty ingredients will serve as the cornerstone for our customers’ product improvements and innovative, customized market solutions.”
Formulators frequently choose Capromer, HDO, and ε-caprolactone compounds as starting materials and building blocks for developing high-performance coatings, plastics, textile fibers, and other industrial products.
“We are very pleased to expand our specialty ingredients distribution partnership with Univar Solutions,” said Timothy Cavanaugh, Director, Diols, Acids, and Polyols, BASF. “This collaboration strengthens our ability to provide high-quality specialty ingredients to the polymer, plastics, coatings, and adhesives industries. Together, we will help our customers innovate, meet regulations, and maintain product performance.”
