Albéa Acquires Amfora Packaging, Strengthening Its Position in Latin America
In early August, the world's leading beauty and personal care packaging company reached an agreement to acquire Amfora Packaging, a Bogotá-based plastic packaging manufacturer with operations in Colombia and Peru.
Amfora Packaging specializes in developing and producing packaging solutions for the fragrance, cosmetics, personal care, and pharmaceutical industries. The company was founded in 2015 through the merger of two family-owned businesses: Intecplast in Bogotá, Colombia, and Pieriplast in Lima, Peru.
The transaction strengthens Albéa's presence in Latin America, one of the fastest-growing markets for beauty and personal care products. The group already operates a production plant in Matamoros, Mexico, which serves as its "center of excellence" for mascara, lip gloss, and lipstick in North America. Albéa previously owned a plant in Brazil, but that facility was divested as part of the sale of its pump business to Silgan.
François Tassart, CEO of Albéa Group, said: "Amfora Packaging's close customer relationships will give us direct access to key players in the beauty and personal care industry. We will be able to continue to provide the best possible support to our international customers and meet the growing demand for local sourcing."
Bertrand de la Tour d'Artaise, Deputy CEO of Strategy and M&A at Albéa Group, added: "We couldn't have chosen a better partner: our two companies share a passion for customers, a commitment to continuous innovation, and a common culture rooted in a responsible entrepreneurial vision."
