This week, the market trend for maleic anhydride in China is mainly weak consolidation

According to the commodity analysis system, the maleic anhydride market in China saw a slight decline this week. As of November 21, the average market price for maleic anhydride produced by the n-butane oxidation method was 5162.50 CNY/ton, a decrease of 0.96% from 5212.50 CNY/ton on November 17.

Supply side: This week, the overall maleic anhydride market in China has declined. Multiple auctions at the Wanhua Yantai site did not result in sales, and while multiple transactions in the East China region were partially completed, prices remained largely stable, providing limited support to the maleic anhydride market. Prices from major maleic anhydride producers have slightly decreased. The procurement of maleic anhydride by downstream unsaturated resins is limited, with a general atmosphere of inventory preparation. As of November 21, in the Shandong region, the factory price of solid maleic anhydride was around 4850 CNY/ton, and the factory price of liquid maleic anhydride was around 4650 CNY/ton.

Upstream: This week, the n-butane market remained generally stable, with prices in Shandong hovering around 4,730 CNY/ton as of November 21.

Downstream: Currently, the market for unsaturated resins in China is mainly in a weak consolidation phase, with moderate downstream transactions, primarily consisting of small orders to meet immediate needs.

Maleic anhydride product analysts believe that currently, the main downstream demand for maleic anhydride is from unsaturated resins with rigid procurement needs; there is no significant increase in maleic anhydride supply. The multiple auctions by Wanhua did not fully conclude, which has increased the wait-and-see sentiment in the Chinese market. It is expected that the recent maleic anhydride market in China will mainly be in a state of consolidation.
