This week, the market price of propylene oxide in China has risen (12.1-12.3)

ECHEMI 2025-12-04

December 3rd, according to reports

This week, the market price of propylene oxide in China has risen. According to the monitoring system, as of December 3rd, the benchmark price of propylene oxide is 7,950 CNY per ton, an increase of 2.58% compared to December 1st.

Price influencing factors:

Raw Materials: This week, the price of propylene, a key raw material, saw a slight increase. According to the market analysis system, as of December 3, the benchmark price of propylene stood at 6,168.25 CNY per ton, down 0.2% from the beginning of the month (6,180.75 CNY per ton). Cost support remains reasonably solid, and trading activity for propylene oxide has been predominantly trending upward.

Supply Side: Fluctuations on the supply side have contributed to a temporary tightening of propylene oxide supply. Starting November 20, Sinochem Quanzhou’s propylene oxide plant was shut down for its annual maintenance, which is expected to last 55 to 60 days. This prolonged maintenance period has further intensified the tight supply situation in the market. The tight supply conditions have driven up the price trend of propylene oxide.

On the demand side: Downstream buyers are actively following up on their purchases of propylene oxide, showing high procurement enthusiasm. As a result, trading activity among propylene oxide producers is robust, and shipments are flowing smoothly. It is expected that the propylene oxide market will likely remain stable with a slight upward trend in the near term.

Future Market Prediction:

Epoxypropane analysts believe that the upward trend in propylene prices at the raw material end provides reasonable support, while downstream demand remains relatively active, ensuring smooth shipments of epoxypropane. Coupled with a tight market supply, it is expected that the epoxypropane market will likely remain stable with a slight upward bias in the short term. Further attention should be paid to changes in raw material prices and shifts in market supply and demand.
