How new health insurance payment models are driving new health care reform
The long-awaited "payment by disease-related diagnosis grouping" has finally entered the practical stage. The National Health Insurance Administration, the Ministry of Finance, the National Health Commission and the National Bureau of Traditional Chinese Medicine jointly issued a notice on the list of national pilot cities for payment by diagnosis-related grouping of diseases, which announced 30 pilot cities, among which Shanghai was listed. The notice also points out that the pilot cities and their provinces should ensure that the simulation runs in 2020 and the actual payment starts in 2021.
