This Week Aniline Market Weakens in China (5.18-5.22)
May 22nd News
I. Price Trends
According to the commodity market analysis system, the price of aniline decreased this week. On May 18, the market price of aniline in China was 11,462 CNY/ton, and on May 22, it was 11,062 CNY/ton, a decline of 3.49% within the week, but an increase of 45.08% compared to the same period last year.
II. Analysis and Commentary
This week, the aniline market in China showed a weak downward trend. The recent decline in the price of raw material pure benzene led to insufficient market confidence and weaker buying interest. To stimulate sales, aniline companies reduced their prices by 100 CNY/ton and 300 CNY/ton, respectively. By Friday, the mainstream price of aniline had dropped to 11,000-11,200 CNY/ton.
On the cost side: The benzene market has been experiencing range-bound fluctuations recently. Affected by the ongoing restrictions on passage through the Strait of Hormuz, some Asian refineries have gradually increased their production cuts, leading to a noticeable contraction in benzene supply. Downstream demand for benzene continues to face negative feedback; however, overall supply-and-demand expectations for benzene remain tight, with port inventories continuing to decline, providing support for prices.
III. Future Market Outlook
After prices fell, demand in the aniline market has eased somewhat, and downstream users are gradually following suit. With no significant changes on the raw-material side, the aniline market is expected to stabilize in the short term.
